Mr. Wiginton's Sunday School message compelled me to ask this question of myself. After serious contemplation, my answer was a disappointing, "no". So I had a thought, why not offer a class about how to witness skillfully for our Lord Jesus Christ? This is simply an idea at this point. Help us brainstorm how to equip each other in this vital area by posting a comment.

I think some role-playing with Mr. Wiginton would be a challenging exercise!
ReplyDeleteTry reading "The Gospel & Personal Evangelism" by Mark Dever. I'm reading it for a Personal Evangelism class taught by Mrs. Cindy Melius at BJU. She has a study guide for the book that we're filling out. Dever's book isn't very long, only about 100 pages, and has some really good ideas/suggestions.
ReplyDeleteYes! Like Mrs. Wiginton said, role-playing is very helpful. We did that several times while we are in Australia. It is one thing to talk about what to say, but is a completely different thing to actually say it in a conversation. No two conversations will ever be the same, but you can definitely practice principles that carry over to many witnessing opportunities!
ReplyDeleteWhy role-play? Just witness! An hour of witnessing will do more good (Matthew 9:12), teach more, and give more faith than three hours of classroom “learning”.
ReplyDeleteWitnessing doesn't happen because of weak faith—not because of a lack of knowledge.
That's my two cents.
