Actually, we are going to start with “Who.” “Who” is (right to left) me (Rachel Potter), Gina Magaruh, Joanna McLaughlin, Lynnette Jones, and David Freeman. We work for a salary of treasure in heaven, and we get a raise every year. We thought we should do something to earn that salary this semester, which leads me to "what." We intended this blog to help the leadership and the membership of the College and Career class communicate. We understand that we have a hard time finding each other, especially with split services and crowded isles. So, we will be posting important things that the leadership wants everyone to know but they couldn’t go around telling people personally. And, we would like to post important things that the membership wants the leadership to know, but they weren’t sure who to tell. We may also be posting some very unimportant but entertaining things, and you can take those or leave them. All of the above brings me to “why.” Why do we suddenly have a blog? In three words: Because of you! Because we want you to get hooked in to Mount Calvary. We noticed that people who stick with Mount Calvary are usually readers. They also prefer a certain amount of anonymity. But, they feel left out if they are not told what is going on. (If you don't fit that stereotype, we especially need you to stick around so you can balance out the rest of us.) Bottom line: blogs provide information to anonymous readers. Second, people who stick to Mount Calvary know other Mount Calvary people. Has anyone been hurt recently by the fact that Pastor Minnick did not send them a birthday card? Did he notice the shoes you wore Sunday? Or your hair style? Of course not! That’s not Pastor Minnick’s job. That’s my job, or Lynnette’s, or David’s, or someone else who is part of the Mount Calvary body. What if you lost your keys or over drafted your bank account? Would you tell Pastor Minnick? You might if your name is Lydia or Esther, but otherwise, probably not. The same people who notice your shoes are the ones who will care most about your overdraft. This blog is a starting place to get you linked to people who will care about you. Communication is a two-way street, and we want it to be more traveled. So, the conversation is officially open. Let's talk while we walk. |
